Broadcasting

I bombarded our local BBC website with so many articles they asked me if I’d like to have a microphone and be the local community reporter for Radio Wales.

Armed with a Flash Mic, headphones and training my job is to put forward stories of local interest that would appeal across Wales. If accepted and commissioned by a producer I record and edit a ‘package’ and send it over the internet to Cardiff where the BBC put the final touches to it.

To date I have made almost a hundred articles for programmes such as Country Focus, Roy Noble and Jamie and Louise.  Once broadcast and if appropriate I post a write up of the story on the BBC website with a link to the radio piece. This is an example which  describes the building of an otter holt by a group of enthusiastic volunteers.

I have contributed to a few TV programmes such as Fishlock’s Wildtracks (ITV), Y Tŷ Cymreig and Welsh in a Week (S4C) and Live the Dream (ITV3) but my favourite was My Secret Wales shown on BBC2 Wales. This was based on a story in my book describing the walk on the ancient coach route over the mountains to Barmouth.
